Important message regarding the transition of Sole Of The City 10K to VIRTUAL

UPDATED 5/28/20

Friends,

As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to evolve across our local community and beyond, restrictions continue to be in place regarding mass gatherings and public events. On May 20th, Baltimore City Mayor Jack Young announced that all permits for events larger than 250 people had been revoked through August 31st. Based on this order, the Sole of the City 10k will not take place as a physical event on July 25th.

I am disappointed that we will not get the opportunity to be together. I looked forward to the smiling faces rounding the final turn into McHenry Row; the crowd gathered in front of the stage to listen to a great band; and the friends swapping stories about how their race unfolded. At the end of the day, public safety and the well-being of our community is a much higher priority.

Current registrants have been sent an e-mail outlining the options they have for their 2020 race registration, including switching to our virtual event or deferring to the 2021 race.

While a virtual event cannot replace the joy of racing together, we are excited to offer this opportunity to compete virtually and enjoy the swag you've earned. Runners participating in the virtual race will submit their time online and compete for overall and age group awards. Along with seeing how you stack up against the competition, virtual runners will also earn a $15 credit toward the 2021 Under Armour Sole of the City 10k presented by KELLY!

We understand what a change in the race date means to runners who have already registered. We are runners ourselves and have personally felt the disappointment when events we’ve chosen to participate in have been forced to cancel or postpone. In this unprecedented time, our goal is to be as flexible as we can given the constraints we are under. This has been a challenging time for our community, and we greatly appreciate your understanding as we work through this process together. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at events@charmcityrun.com.
